So .... its here... the event of the year... Well, almost ;-) Squash handicap finals is shaping to be a fun night - well, it always is at Cheam Squash :-) We are yet to know our finalists, we will get the update out tomorrow however the plan of action is as follows: First up - Plate Final, Brian (The Big Swing) McCormick is already through to the final and he will play either Conor (Did i just hit the tin) Savill or Ray (Ray's Rules) Geoghegan Then secondly - the big ticket - Handicap Final... To be decided (Semi's played tomorrow) are: Richard (Coconuts) Clasby, Ethan (Speedy) Tulloch, Delano (Biltong) Bushby & Chris (The Champagne Man) Davey Finally - to show us how its really done - Mr Neal Brooker has set up an exhibition match between himself and one of his trusted pro's to entertain us whilst we consume some well earned beers! It should be good night - and as ever - there will be a sprinkling of beers and wine for folks to consume whilst watching. Festivities will start circa 6:30ish (for warm up). All games, best of 5, up to 15, No Strokes, lets only (well until the Pro's show us how its done! - strokes get back involved!) Come down, have a drink watch some quality squash and have a giggle! CHEAM SQUASH CLUB
Basically a good friend of mine that I have know and played football with - Jimmy Cullen - was diagnosed with cancer and told his chances of survival were very poor, however Jimmy decided to fight the cancer head on and to say there have been some ups and downs along the way is an understatement. Anyway, long story short Jimmy is still fighting the cancer and we are all hoping for some good news in the near future. Whilst Jimmy has been going through this he decided not to sit ideally by but to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund (Cancer Research Uk) and has taken part in many events with a very special young man called Jonjo Heuerman(more details on the website)
This weekend we are looking to go for a Guinness World Record - Largest ever Bubble Football Match - it is taking place at Sutton United Football Club.
